Montenegro Citizenship By Investment for LGBT Expats

Montenegro Citizenship By Investment for LGBT Expats

Montenegro’s parliament passed a bill on life partnership for same-sex couples on June 1, 2020, making it the first Western Balkan country to legalize same-sex marriage. The law took effect on July 15, 2021.

This law also means that its citizenship by investment will be open to same-sex couples from all around the world. With this new regulation, Montenegro became the only country in the Balkans to do so.

Note: Same-sex couples can apply for Montenegro citizenship program if they’re legally married.

LGBT Inclusion in RCBI Programs All Around The World

Canada acknowledges same-sex marriages and unmarried de facto spouses. Since 2013, the United States has offered immigration privileges to married same-sex couples, making it another viable alternative for same-sex international investors.

Same-sex marriages aren’t recognized in St.Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda. So, their CBI programs don’t include same-sex couples.

Portugal, Malta, and Greece RCBI programs stand out among other EU countries thanks to their LGBT inclusion. Same-sex couples can apply for Portugal Golden Visa, as long as they can provide proof of the civil partnership. For Greece Golden Visa, you’ll be required to sign a cohabitation agreement.
